Always, at least in most cases, it is the little ones in the family that bring home the COLDS. Once in the door cold grows from there. Usually starting with the youngest and working its way up. In this writer’s family, dad was the last one to get IT! As the cold was making it’s rounds through out the family so to a fresh pot of chicken soup was on the stove. The tailored and crafted soup simmered most of the day to perfection. It soothed the throat, open some the nasal passages, just made the body feel good, and in most cases, help heal the the cold. Maybe an old remedy but a good batch of chicken soup, in a uncommon way, looked good with all the vegetables, noodles and just the right season and spices to do the job. The job of refreshing and healing the body and moral of the family members. It helped ‘protect’ the family. But, too, whoever dropped in during the time of cooking also enjoyed the nourishment from a cup of ‘ol’ chicken soup.

Summer is almost here and already cooler clothing has been appearing, especially in the desert and in and around water. Many want to vacation or visit the beaches. But be aware that, as most may know from their chemistry classes, that phosphorus can ignite when exposed to air. A women recently spending some relaxing time with the children were at San Onofre State Beach in California. This area is near Camp Pendleton Marine Base. The ladies shorts caught fire burning her. The cause? It is assumed that the shorts came in contact with some rocks the children picked up from the beach that may have been coated with phosphorus. Therefore, the rocks, being exposed to the air, cause the accident. The woman remains hospitalized being treated for third degree burns. ( Britto Carry On ) The base is checking whether military may have contaminated the area.
Have fun at the beach but in all cases be careful. Coming in contacting with phosphorus on rocks is most unusual to say the least. But, rip tides, jelly fish and sun burns are not. If playing in the surf, know the area but mostly the water. Try to use a beach were there is a life guard or life guard near by. Ask the officials about rip tides and any sighting of jelly fish that could be harmful if enjoying the water near the shore. ( Children Luggage )

So Does One Think Foreigners Really Don’t Care To Live In The Good ‘Ol U.S.A.?
One hears often from neighbors in the United States complaining about the state of affairs here in our country. Must admit that this writer is guilty of just that same thing. Oh yes, the U.S.A. can, and SHOULD improve in many, many areas as we all should within our personal lives. But this country still ranks high for those that come and want to become citizens or have their children become citizens. Example: According from Homeland Security persons naturalized in the U.S.A. in 2011 were as follows; from Colombia 22,693, from China 32,864, from Philippines 42,250, from India 45,985, and last the southern neighbor Mexico at 94,783. Hmmm? Wonder where our neighbors north fall into this? Maybe because Canada is so similar to the US or they just like their country more. On the ‘same token’ USA Today reported that school age Hispanics grew more then 5 MILLION since the year 2000 while non-Hispanic whites at a low of 3 MILLION. ( kids luggage )

Again one reads about MISREPRESENTATION or “..it was a computer error.” Simple, huh? Example, let us consider Delta Air Lines. They stated that some of their FREQUENT FLIERS may have paid higher fares then other customers for three weeks. Why? “Computer glitch.” But all is fair because those frequent fliers can get an adjustment by calling the airline direct, says Delta Air Lines spokesman. One may be out a few bucks until the refunds, but what the heck? With Delta one can give more pardon. However, not true with Skechers. Headline reads today “Skechers To Pay $40 Million Over Ad Claims”. This IS MISREPRESNTATION. The powers to be, and in Washington,as elsewhere, do this more often than not. Now, too, this business is in your face with another statement (s) misleading the customer. Yes, WE DO HAVE room to improve.

It was 6 in the evening as the train wound its way around the darkened canyon.. Inside, the Pullman car, the lights flickered now and then as the metal wheels clicked along the track. Ally glanced from his comic book toward Irish as if confirming his disapproval in her use of crayons. she was completely engrossed in the magic coloring sticks. “It seems to go off the page more than on, ” he thought to himself. Marleen was tidying up the best she could as Daniel was arranging the heavier items for their departure later that night. “Ya Sa,” Samuel’s voice said, close to their quarters. “We is right on time! Should be pulling into dem Las Vegas ’bout midnight, I expect. We’s got a little som’in for dem youngins!” ( Britto Luggage )
His eyes sparkled with affection as he held out a small cake. Ally could smell its fresh-baked aroma even before Samuel’s announcement. Now his concentration was just on the cake, and he dropped his Superman episode to his side. - How sad to know that on May 20th statics show that 16.6 teenage drivers or teen passenger in the U.S. WILL DIE from a TEEN DRIVING OR RIDING WITH A TEEN DRIVING. On August 14th 16.6 also the same thing is projected to happen, But on July 4, 18.8 will die.
- The other dates are: September 26th with 16.4 deaths, May 23th with 16.0. August 8th 16.0, July 9th is at 15.8, death, November ranks the same as July 9. But it eases off on January 21th at 15.5. There are no stats found for February or March. (From National Highway Traffic Safety Adm, 2006-2010).
- The major point here is the owner of the vehicle in which the teens are riding or is driving. If the owner is the LEGAL owner of vehicle it is that person’s responsible to know, approve or DISAPPROVE WHO DRIVES AND OR RIDES IN THE CAR. Yes, accidents happen with all the best intentions and caution of foresite, But this in no way negates the responsibilities here either with the driver, passenger and most of all the owner of the auto.
- It goes with out stating this but it must be stated over and over again. Especially when one reads of a Chairman of the Board of a well know corporation lying in his resume to get a position with a major company. One only needs to see and be aware of some of our political personalities that lie, will cheat and misrepresent.
- Yes, ALL KNOW it is not entirely the blame of lack of parenthood in raising children. But MUCH OF IT IS. Parents and or owners of a vehicle which a teen driver is going to be the driver, and the same with the passenger, whenever it is possible, TAKE THE TIME, BE RESPONSIBLE, ADVISE, INSTRUCT AND MOST IMPORTANTLY DISCIPLINE WHEN NECESSARY, not only all the time as a parent or guardian but especially those times when an auto is in the picture. Cannot recall or ever heard the name T. Van Kirk? Don’t feel ashamed if you haven’t. If this writer had known the name, well, it has long been forgotten over the years. I would venture to say at one time it was impress upon my mind. Maybe not the name but certainly what the ‘name’ and greatest event it would be attached to in history. So, at this time, I want to take my hat off in gratitude to this Major, as he is titled now, and those that were with him on the memorable moment in time, which in this writer’s opinion the incident will always be in the U.S. history books as well as the rest of the world’s recorded history. In August 1945 the B-29, crew and Dutch Van Kirk flew to Hiroshima, Japan. The aircraft flew right to where it was suppose to fly to. Because, now a Major, Van Kirk was the navigator on that famous flight directing the crew to exactly the bombing site. This famous crew and plane dropped the first ATOMIC BOMB on that Japanese city. We know the rest of the story and the results. But the crew did not really know FOR SURE what the results would be. They were not even sure they would SURVIVE THE AFTER SOCK OF THE BLAST. The crew survived and, now, Major Van Kirk is the only member of the crew alive today. In Dayton, Ohio this year on July 7th & 8t, he will be honored at the Dayton Air Show. He and his crew were that part of what changed history on that day. I’m sure all of the crew knew this months before the day of take off with the bomb. Not only did the crew know, but they were sworn to secrecy. The HONORS, are yours, Sir as well as with your departed comrades.

OK! Let us suppose there were only two types of carry on luggage. One style and color for the male. One style and color for the female. That was it! But both could be had at bargin and with very little effort. The manufacture offering such a product would find it very difficult to compete. The Volkswagen or VW was manufactured and put on the market. One color, one car. All for the “common people”. But the little beetle had to change if it was to try for the American dollar. This writer has that feeling of being pushed into the public corner when it come to the choices, of this date, for those running for the presidency for U. S. President for 2012. Seems as thought the citizens of the United States are being shoved either to the one now in office or the other trying to get into that office. That is it! TWO ! In the presidential race for 2012 there needs to be more, lack of a better word, horses running. Maybe there is that “dark horse” like was in the Kentucky Derby of last week. “I’ll Have Another.”, came from behind. Virtually little PR given to the horse. A little more than half way through the race, this horse and jockey pulled away from the pack. Then proceeded to take the favorite lead horse leaving it and its rider behind as it sailed passed the finish line! The winning horse is strong, bred properly with a team behind that felt he could win. This was especially true with jockey directing him to victory. What made the race so great was that there were many entered into the race. NOT JUST TWO. Those that bet had many choice. Those that bet on the chosen favorite lost to win. Why the win? There are, of course many reasons, but the jockey had fresh ideas, the desire and the belief he, his horse and team behind them could PULL IT OFF. Maybe not exactly the way they could have imagined but they entered…and they W O N ! One way or another they would have won ’cause they tried. Those around the team would have known it too.
“I’ll Have Another” changed many peoples thoughts about the race. Thoughts, that maybe, will be beneficial in future racing. NO ONE AT THIS RACE FELT PUSHED INTO A CORNOR EXCEPT MAYBE THE LOSERS.
